Hi, I’m Julian Kraus — a photographer from Germany, currently based in Perth, Western Australia.

Photography found me on the road. Years of traveling with a camera in my bag, chasing light in new places, slowly turned into something more serious — and eventually into what I do now.

What ties my work together is people: the ones running the places I photograph, the ones passing through them, the small moments that don't usually make it into a polished brochure but are exactly what stick with you. I'm more interested in that than in a technically perfect shot.

I moved here from Germany and I still approach a new place the way a traveler would — curious, a bit restless, always looking for the detail everyone else walks past.

I always like to grab a coffee or have a chat before a shoot — the best images come out of actually understanding what a place or brand is about, not just showing up with a checklist.
